UPS battery charge and discharge knowledge

Time:2018-07-13     【Reserved】

Mastering the correct method of UPS battery use and good maintenance of the UPS battery can enhance the performance and service life of the UPS battery, so how can the UPS battery be charged and discharged?

About charging

1. When the UPS floats and charges, please use the charging voltage of 2.275V / single cell (the set value at 20 ℃) for constant voltage charging or a current below 0.002CA for constant current charging. When the temperature is below 0 ° C or above 40 ° C, it is necessary to modify the charging voltage. For each degree change starting from 20 ° C, the single-cell voltage changes by -3mv.

2. During cyclic charging, the charging voltage is 2.40-2.50V / cell (set value at 20 ℃) for constant voltage and voltage charging. When charging at a temperature below 5C or above 35 ° C, starting at 20 ° C, the charging voltage is adjusted to -4mv / cell per one degree change.

3. The initial charge current is controlled below 0.25CA.

4. The charge capacity is set to 100-120% of the discharge capacity, but when the ambient temperature is below 5C, it is set to 120-130%.

5. The lower the temperature (below 5 ° C), the longer the charging end time, and the higher the temperature (above 35 ° C), the more likely to be overcharge. Therefore, it is better to charge within 5 ° C to 30 ° C, especially when it is used in a cycle.

6. To prevent overcharging, install a charging timer as much as possible, or automatically switch to trickle charging.

7. The battery temperature should be controlled within the range of -15 ℃ ~ + 40 ℃ during charging.

About discharge

1. Please control the battery temperature in the range of -15 ℃-+ 50 ℃ when discharging.

2. Please control the continuous discharge current below 3CA (H is controlled below 6 ℃ A).

3. The end-of-discharge voltage varies with the magnitude of the current, and is generally described below. Note that during discharge, the voltage must not be lower than the following voltage.

4. Please charge quickly after discharging. If you accidentally overcharge, please charge immediately.

Installation Precautions

When installing the battery , be sure to observe the following:

1. Don't install the battery in the sealed space or near the fire, otherwise there will be danger of explosion and fire.

2. Do not cover the battery with vinyl film that may cause static electricity. Sometimes it may cause explosion when static electricity is generated.

3. Do not install the battery in places where water may enter, otherwise there is a danger of electric shock and fire.

4. Do not install the battery in an environment exceeding -40 ° C ~ 60 ° C.

5. Do not use the battery in dusty places, otherwise it may cause short circuit of the battery.

6. When putting the battery into the box, pay attention to air circulation.

7. Do not hold the cover with sticky or label-like objects. Because there is an exhaust valve under the cover, the gas generated in the battery will not escape.

8. Number of parallel connections-When floating charging, plug-in terminal batteries can only be associated with a maximum of three rows. Bolt-tight terminals are not particularly limited, but the number of parallel connections is small and reliability is increased. In addition, when connecting in parallel, it is necessary to consider equalizing the wiring conductors and contact resistance between the columns. In order to maintain the balance of the charge and discharge batteries in each column, please do not exceed three columns in actual use.

9. When using batteries with different capacities, different old and new, and different manufacturers at the same time, the battery and the machine may be damaged due to different characteristics, so please avoid using them.
